Doing our part

Heart & Squirrel believes in reducing our impact on the world as much as possible. While we can’t control everything, we do our best to use sustainable materials and practices when we can.

While we do use a synthetic leatherette material for our patches, we believe this is the best option right now for our customers. Real leather is cost prohibitive for many and does not have the easy care/washability that leatherette does, and it’s not vegan friendly. We continue to follow developments on new leatherette materials that may provide the same quality but are not PVC based in the future.

Plastic Free Packaging

All of our materials used to package and ship products are plastic free! We use paper mailers and paper inner packaging that is all either recyclable or biodegradable.

Recyclable Labels

Did you know that most stickers shipping labels are not recyclable or biodegradable? We source our packaging materials through noissue so that even the labels, stickers, and even the paper liners are all zero-waste and recyclable!

Scrap Recycling

If you sew, you know when using fabric you always end up with tiny little scraps. Even knitters/crocheters are going to have those bits of yarn leftover!

We send all of our scrap material to Retold Recycling to reduce our landfill footprint.

No Printed Invoices

In an effort to reduce our use of paper, you won’t receive a paper receipt in your order: you’ll only receive the email copy of your receipt after your purchase so you can keep it and refer to it as needed.
